Cold Room Refrigeration: The Advantages of Compact Wall-Mounted Systems

For small and mid-size walk-in coolers and freezers, a compact wall-mounted refrigeration unit is often the simplest way to get reliable cooling. The condensing unit and evaporator are built into a single monobloc unit that mounts through the cold room wall. You don’t need a separate condenser on the roof or long refrigerant lines.

What is a wall-mounted refrigeration unit?

A wall-mounted unit is a self-contained system that installs through an opening in the cold room panel. The evaporator sits inside the room and the condensing section sits outside. KIDE EMB units arrive pre-charged with refrigerant, with a hermetic compressor and a multi-function electronic control built into the front panel.

Key advantages

  • Plug-and-play installation. The unit is pre-charged and factory-tested, so there is no field piping or refrigerant charging.
  • Space-saving. Nothing takes up floor space inside the room, and no rooftop equipment is needed.
  • Built-in protection. High and low-pressure controls, hot-gas defrost, partial evaporation of defrost water and a dirty-condenser alert.
  • Flexible capacities. Cooler models run from -5°C to +10°C and freezer models from -25°C to -15°C, from 3/4 HP to 3 HP.
  • Certified. KIDE EMB units sold by First Select in Canada are ETL certified.

Ideal uses

Restaurant and café walk-ins, convenience store coolers, bakery and pastry storage, florists, and small food-processing rooms.

Wall-mounted or roof-mounted?

Choose wall-mounted when you have access to a side wall and want the simplest installation. Choose a roof-mounted penthouse unit when wall space is limited or the room is freestanding.
